Olivier Giroud’s scorpion kick has been nominated for FIFA’s Puskas Award, despite idiots not even voting it Goal of the Month or Goal of the Season on the BBC’s Match of the Day.

The spectacular strike against Palace came shortly after Mkhitaryan’s offside effort, taking some of the sting out of it’s tail. But there’s no denying it was better than either Andy Carrol’s effort, which won goal of the month that month or Emre’s Can’s which was awarded Goal of the Season.

How can I say that? Well, do you see either of those goals on the shortlist below?

Don’t trust me, or the FIFA panel, watch them all again for yourself and you be the judge…

The winner will be announced at the Best FIFA Football Awards show which will take place in London on 23 October.
