Real Madrid’s president Florentino Perez wants to bring Alexis Sanchez to the Santiago Bernabeu, but not all the players are on board, according to reports in Spain.

Alexis is reportedly a key target for the Spanish side, and according to Spanish outlet Don Balon, Florentino Perez is a long-term admirer of the Chilean and wants to bring him to Spain.

Perez reportedly sees him as the perfect signing, given Alexis’ contract is ending and Arsenal’s Europa League participation means the forward isn’t ruled out of playing Champions League football for Real this season.

However, Don Balon claim that some of the players are against the move, including Sergio Ramos, who apparently doesn’t want to see a former Barcelona player join, and friends of Karim Benzema, who are worried about the Frenchman being pushed out. They would reportedly rather see the club go for someone younger.

From an Arsenal point of view, I think a move to notoriously big-spending Real Madrid in January would be preferable to Alexis joining Manchester City for free next summer. Even moving to Real for free would at least avoid the 28-year-old coming back to haunt the Gunners domestically.

Whether Alexis would be happy to join Barcelona’s rivals remains to be seen. From the deadline day stories it seems pretty clear to me that he would by happy to rejoin Pep Guardiola, given a conditional agreement was reached. From what I’ve seen, most fans will hope this doesn’t happen.
