Mathieu Flamini is still on the look-out for a new club but insists he’s not just going to jump at the chance to sign for anyone.

After being released by Arsenal in 2016 and joining Crystal Palace, Flamini once again finds himself without a club despite still being fit… according to him. However, the 33-year-old isn’t desperate. In fact, apparently he’s waiting for a project that ‘stimulates’ him to come along before putting pen to paper.

“I’ve been fortunate enough to have received many offers from this country and Europe but I want the right project,” he told the Sun.

“The situation is straight- forward. It is not about just the club but a project, something that can stimulate me. To me, the project is more important.

“I want the opportunity to challenge myself again. I have been playing for many years and still feel young.”

The midfielder ‘enjoyed’ two stints at Arsenal.

He initially spent four years in north London after signing from Marseille in 2004 and made 104 league appearances during that time. However, AC Milan came a-knocking and the midfielder jumped ship.

The Frenchman returned – on a free – in 2013 but was noticeably rusty, as well as injury-prone.

Unfortunately, he was a name Arsenal fans began to dread appearing on the team sheet. He became a massive liability and when the club finally released us from our misery him last year, we breathed a sigh of relief.

Flamini did sign for Palace but only went on to make just 13 appearances across all competitions. For obvious reasons, the Eagles decided not to keep him and here he is. Without a club again.

Joking side, I hope Flamini finds a club soon if that’s what he wants. Just not my club.
