Arsenal have reportedly agreed a deal in principle for Monaco’s Thomas Lemar, which could see the 21-year-old become the Gunners’ highest earner.

According to an EXCLUSIVE from the Daily Star, Arsenal have agreed a deal in principle with Lemar, who could be set to earn a whopping £250k-per-week.

The 21-year-old, who could allegedly be signing a five-year deal with the Gunners, would therefore be getting an astronomical pay rise considering he reportedly gets just £2.8k-per-week at Monaco.

This amount would also take him above Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil if they don’t sign new deals.

The report from the Star also insists that said deal, set to be signed in January, doesn’t hinge on whether Alexis stays or goes.

The 28-year-old was heavily linked with a £60m move to Manchester City at the end of the  window and while the transfer never happened, it’s expected that they’ll return for the Chile international in winter.

Another interesting take away from the report is that despite rumours claiming that Lemar turned down a move to Arsenal even though he had previously been said to be interested all summer, it now appears that, as Arsene Wenger recently revealed, he didn’t snub the Gunners. Apparently, there were genuine problems with pushing the deal through while he was away on international duty.
