Norwich City manager, Daniel Farke, admits that Arsenal is probably the toughest Carabao Cup drawn the Championship side could have gotten.

Farke admits that Arsenal are probably the toughest opposition the Canaries could come up against during the fourth round of the League Cup.

Being away to Arsenal, it’s probably the toughest draw we could have got,” the German told the club’s official website.

It’s a game for us to look forward to. We will go into it giving our best and trying everything we can get to get through.

Norwich will be buoyed by the Gunners’ unconvincing 1-0 victory over League One Doncaster Rovers on Wednesday night having beaten Brentford 3-1 on Tuesday.

However, Farke’s side are currently 12th in the Championship after only winning three matches out of a possible eight so far this term. Therefore, perhaps they won’t be feeling so confident after all.

Arsenal have a fairly decent record against the Canaries. Since they first met in January 1952 the Gunners have won 27 times compared to Norwich’s 11. In fact, Arsenal have only lost twice to Norwich since 1992 and Arsene Wenger has only been defeated by them once (October 2012).

Combine this with the League Cup fixture taking place at the Emirates and Wenger’s side should go through to the fifth round with ease. Although we said that about Donny.

The other fourth round fixtures are:

  • Bournemouth v Middlesbrough
  • Bristol City v Crystal Palace
  • Chelsea v Everton
  • Leicester City v Leeds United
  • Manchester City v Wolverhampton Wanderers
  • Swansea City v Manchester United
  • Tottenham Hotspur v West Ham United

Considering Manchester United, City and Spurs are all still in the competition, I feel that Farke could be just trying to flatter us…
