Arsenal’s Gedion Zelalem has stepped-up his recovery from the cruciate ligament injury and fans have been reacting on social media.

The 20-year-old midfielder suffered the injury at the U20 World Cup last summer and has only recently returned to London Colney for the next phase of his rehabilitation.

His contract expires in the summer and while I believe he still hopes to play football this season, there are doubts about his future at Arsenal, in my opinion.

Some fans believe he still has the ability to make a comeback at Arsenal.

Zelalem looked an exciting prospect when he emerged during a pre-season tour in 2014, but has yet to make an impact on the Arsenal first-team for me.

He spent time on loan with Rangers and VVV-Venlo. Now 20 and coming off a serious injury, it’ll require a big turnaround in fortunes for him to make a significant impact in the first team, I feel.

It’s for that reason that some aren’t convinced he can make a comeback.

Zelalem was linked with a move to Borussia Dortmund before his injury, so it’s seems to me that it’s clear good clubs in Europe rate him. I feel his first priority will surely be getting fit again. After that, we’ll what happens.
