The Arsenal fans were delighted with Nacho Monreal’s performance against West Brom and couldn’t contain themselves on social media.

The 31-year-old continued in his new role as a left-sided centre back in Arsenal’s back three and put in one of his best performances.

He had a strong showing at the back, helping Arsenal keep a clean sheet with some goal-line heroics, and a good display with the ball. He was positive with his passing and supported the midfield.

For many fans, he was Arsenal‘s man-of-the-match on the night, and they’ve given him some overdue appreciation.

Monreal has been a dependable performer for Arsenal since he joined from Malaga in January 2013. The defender often went under the radar for his contributions, perhaps due to his style of play, which isn’t very eye-catching.

Though he’s played most of his career as a left back, he’s made a successful transition to centre back. It was a position he only ever played in when Arsenal needed emergency cover.

However, he’s now one of the first names on the team sheet and is keeping recognised centre backs Per Mertesacker and Rob Holding out of the starting eleven.

If he keeps up these performances, he’ll have every chance of going to the World Cup with Spain this summer, in my opinion.
