Arsene Wenger revealed Santi Cazorla is nearing a return for Arsenal, and supporters couldn’t hide their excitement on social media.

The Spaniard has been out since October 2016 with an achilles injury. What was an initially a three week injury turned into several months due to complications during the recovery process.

While there’s still no timeframe for Cazorla’s return, Arsene Wenger delivered some good news in his pre-Bournemouth press conference. The 32-year-old is now running again and could be back playing in 2018.

The news has understandably gone down well with the Arsenal fans.

Arsenal have struggled without Cazorla and will hope that he’s as good as he was before his injury when he makes his long-awaited return. Given the advancing age and the fact he’s coming off the back of long-term injury, it’s unlikely Cazorla will be the same player he was before.

His technical quality and intelligence won’t have suffered, but physically he may struggle to play more than once a week for Arsenal. Nonetheless, the Spaniard returning and entertaining us all with his quick feet and clever passes would be a real highlight of the season.
