Santi Cazorla has been left out of Arsenal’s Premier League squad list.
Arsenal have submitted their final 25-man Premier League squad list to the FA and Santi Cazorla is missing, meaning that he won’t be able to make an appearance in the league until January and suggesting that his recovery isn’t going quite as smoothly as we thought.
Back in July, the Spaniard shot down rumours that he was sidelined until April 2018 after another set-back but his omission from the Premier League squad suggests that he won’t be returning ‘soon’, as he previously insisted.
The midfield linchpin suffered an Achilles problem during Arsenal’s 6-0 Champions League win over Ludogorets in October 2016.
Complications arose, which forced the 32-year-old to undergo surgery in Sweden. The wound from said surgery then didn’t heal properly and there were yet more complications, leading to more procedures.
It’s therefore understandable that the little Spaniard is finding it so hard to recover and why it’s incredibly difficult to pin down a definitive return date – or even month.
With just one year left on his contract, it’ll be a pleasure just to see Santi play for Arsenal again.
Hopefully, he continues to recover and we see him soon.
