Arsenal legend Bob Wilson believes that the players wanted Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez to be sold this summer.

After the 4-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield, there was plenty of speculation about how divided Arsenal’s dressing room actually is. I felt it was clear on the day that some players did not want to play for the club, and it’s believed that was the source of a ‘bust-up’ amongst the players.

Alexis Sanchez is at the centre of this speculation, and despite Arsene Wenger wanting to keep him, club legend Bob Wilson believes that the players want the opposite. “There are insiders who are saying the players would rather have him away,” Wilson said, reports the Daily Star.

“That is only insider talk – not being said directly to me – but quite clearly, great player though he is, he can be a problem.” This isn’t the first time we’ve about Alexis being a disruptive player.

He was reportedly left out of the starting eleven against Liverpool last season after walking out on training early. He’s also sulked on the bench and on the pitch. For the sake of team harmony, it makes sense to remove the so-called bad egg from the group.

However, Wenger seems to be placing a lot of faith in the professionalism of his players. He expects Alexis to play with just as much heart as he usually does and for things not to blow up on his face.

Time will tell if that’ll be the case, but it seems a very risky decision given what’s at stake for Arsenal this season.
