Ross Barkley admits that he’ll weigh up his options in January when he’s fit.

Barkley was tipped to leave Everton this summer after refusing to sign a new deal. The midfielder has under a year left on his current contract and, as a result, could go for free next year if he doesn’t find a new club by January.

The 23-year-old was said to be having a medical with Chelsea ahead of a £35m move to Antonio Conte’s side on Transfer Deadline Day. However, the player has since denied these claims in spite of the Toffees’ majority shareholder, Farhad Moshiri, claiming that he had.

Arsenal were also linked with the England international earlier in the window and depending what happens with their midfield between now and January, could make a move for him.

You have to imagine that Chelsea is the lad’s most likely destination, since Moshiri claims he did have a medical there and he was heavily linked with the London side throughout the summer.

As depressing as it is to say out loud, signing for Arsenal would most likely be seen as a step sideways.

Barkley is currently sidelined with a thigh injury and hasn’t been given a return date.

Last season, he made 39 appearances for Everton across all competitions, scored six goals and assisted nine.
