Real Madrid were reportedly offered Alexis Sanchez on Transfer Deadline Day but Zinedine Zidane wasn’t interested.

Rather than sell Alexis to Manchester City, Arsenal offered the Chilean to Real Madrid for £69m, claims Spanish outlet, Don Balon.

Zidane, however, turned down the chance to sign the 28-year-old, who now has under a year left on his current deal with the Gunners.

Alexis was reportedly desperate to move away from north London this summer and was tipped to reunite with former Barcelona boss, Pep Guardiola. However, for some reason, City left it until the final couple of days of the transfer window to make a solid move for the forward.

While Arsenal allegedly agreed to the move, they wanted to find a replacement first, which is why they made a late £92m move for Monaco winger, Thomas Lemar.

The 21-year-old chose to stay in Ligue 1, however, which means that Alexis stays at Arsenal.

Last season, the Chile international scored 30 goals over all competitions for the Gunners and while he wasn’t the world-beater everyone painted him as, he’s world class and is a huge player for Arsenal.

Now that he has to stay put, as Arsene Wenger always said he would, hopefully he can be professional and give everything for the club.
