Arsenal could be dealt a second hammer-blow in January with Inter Milan reportedly eyeing Mesut Ozil.

As well as Alexis Sanchez allegedly looking to sign for just about any other team that isn’t Arsenal in January, Ozil could now also be set to leave.

The playmaker, who has under a year left on his contract, is currently being linked with Inter Milan and Arsenal, who are said to have made their peace with the 28-year-old leaving, might sell him in January rather than allow him to leave on a free next summer.

Italian outlet, Transfermarketweb, claim that the Serie A giants aren’t that impressed with 24-year-old Joao Mario’s performances this season and are looking to jazz up their midfield despite the Portuguese international scoring three assists in five appearances.

Mario has four years left on his current deal.

While it was always suspected that Alexis would be leaving and most Gooners will be glad to see the back of him after his summer shenanigans, Ozil comes as a bit of a shock.

During pre-season the Germany international claimed that he wanted to stay and everything, including interviews in which he spoke at length about his love of the club and London, pointed to him staying.

However, even Arsene Wenger recently admitted that talks over a new deal have stalled.

“The contract talks have slowed down a little bit since August 31, because we need a little breather and to focus on the competition,” Wenger said in mid-September. “But we will slowly get back into that.”

Now, it’s looking as if Ozil could indeed be leaving after four years at the club.

I hope I’m wrong.
