Arsenal are interested in Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Mijat Gacinovic, according to reports in Italy.

Corriere Dello Sport report that Arsenal are scouting the 22-year-old after some impressive performances for Serbia and Frankfurt. The central midfielder has scored two goals and provided one assist in the only two matches he’s played for his country, and also has one goal in three for Frankfurt this season.

The midfielder is very versatile, which is another positive trait from the point of view of potential suitors. He mostly plays in the centre, but last season also made appearances on the left and right, and this season all three of his club matches have been played in a different position to the others.

Bayern Munich are also apparently interested, which they always tend to be when it comes to young players in the Bundesliga, so the Gunners face some stiff competition if they really are interested in the Serbian.

Arsenal were reportedly looking for a central midfielder towards the end of the transfer window, after the poor loss to Liverpool at Anfield, but didn’t get very far, so may look to address the position again in future windows.

Whether Gacinovic represents a good solution to the problems the Gunners have remains to be seen.
