Napoli are ahead of Arsenal and Liverpool in the race for AS Monaco goalkeeper Danijel Subasic, according to latest reports.

The Croatian international has been linked with the Gunners and the Merseysiders but could end up moving to Napoli. That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport via talkSPORT, who claim that with Napoli unsure about the future of Spanish shot-stopper Pepe Reina, they will look to sign Subasic in January.

Arsenal supposedly had an interest at the start of the summer, but weren’t looking to sign a keeper at the time. We could be on the lookout for a replacement for Petr Cech soon, but would likely look at a younger keeper than Subasic and may wait until next summer to sign one.

Subasic has been at Monaco since 2012 after moving from Hajduk Split. He’s made 195 appearances for Monaco and was their first choice keeper last season when they won the Ligue 1 title. He also has 29 caps for Croatia.

The report speculates that Arsenal and Liverpool could make an effort to sign him in January as well. But in Arsenal’s case, Subasic is unlikely to trade in first-team football at Monaco to sit on the bench behind Petr Cech for half a season.
