Everton midfielder Ross Barkley has said he will assess his options in January, but the Arsenal fans don’t want him at the Emirates Stadium.

Barkley was close to leaving Everton on deadline day, but a move to Chelsea fell through at the last second. The player took to Twitter to explain that he would wait until January, when he’s expected to be fully fit, before assessing his options.

Arsenal were one of the clubs linked with the English international throughout the summer and would have the opportunity to sign him in January. However, when asked if Barkley would be the right signing, the Arsenal fans said that we could do better.

Arsenal do need to strengthen in midfield, but not with a player like Barkley, who’s more accustomed to playing higher up the pitch.

The issue for the Gunners is largely a defensive one, as the current pairing of Granit Xhaka and Aaron Ramsey hasn’t provided the defence with enough defensive cover. Barkley is unlikely to rectify that.

In addition, Barkley has a problem with his decision-making in the final third and doesn’t have the same level of end product as Alexis Sanchez or Mesut Ozil, so he wouldn’t be a good replacement for them, either.
