Arsenal are considering Lucas Moura of Paris Saint-Germain as a possible replacement for Alexis Sanchez or Mesut Özil if either players leaves in January, according to latest reports.

Lucas Moura has apparently been a target of Arsenal in the past, and according to Italian outlet TMW, the Gunners are targeting him again in case Özil or Alexis leave in the winter window.

The 25-year-old scored in his only appearance for the club this season, coming off the back  having scored 19 goals and picking up 11 assists in all competitions last campaign. One of these assists came in the match against Arsenal at the Emirates, so Wenger has definitely seen him in action before.

But whether the winger has done enough to convince the Arsenal manager that he could replace one of the Gunners star players such as Alexis Sanchez or Mesut Ozil is another matter.

Given the number of times he was subbed on and off, being taken off 30 times over the year, Lucas didn’t play as much as his 53 appearances suggest last season. However, he was still a key part of the team before the arrivals of Kylian Mbappé and Neymar.

It’s hard to see him being involved as much now, especially if the start of the season is anything to go on. PSG have played eight matches in all competitions, with a fit Lucas featuring only once.
