Schalke central midfielder Leon Goretzka is reportedly set to snub Arsenal and Liverpool in favour of a move to Bayern Munich.

Goretzka’s contract at Schalke expires at the end of the season and it appears that the 22-year-old wants to move to a new club. However, while Arsenal, Liverpool and Inter Milan are all said to be interested, the Germany international is reportedly eyeing a move to Bayern.

Schalke are allegedly ready to pay the midfielder £150k-per-week if he signs a new deal with them but Bayern have apparently already made an ‘informal approach’ and Goretzka is interested.

Goretzka has risen through the ranks at Schalke since he joined the Bundesliga side from VfL Bochum in 2013. He’s gone on to make a total of 125 senior appearances for the German club, scoring 16 goals and assisting 13.

This season, he’s already featured seven times, scored once and assisted once.

The 22-year-old has been capped 10 times for Germany and scored an impressive four goals including a brace against Mexico in the Confederations Cup semi-finals over the summer.

While Arsenal could be keeping an eye on him, you can understand why he’d choose Bayern. He’s been in the Bundesliga for four years and Bayern are 27-time winners, as well as five-time Champions League champions. Most young German players probably want to go there.
