Arsenal and Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez has broken his silence following this summer’s failed move to Manchester City with a series of motivational messages on social media.

Alexis has been remarkably silent during this whole transfer mess. While the papers have done plenty of talking, he hasn’t said a thing. A recent string of motivational comments on his Instagram account is the most he’s said in a while.

The Sun have decided that they’re ‘cryptic’ messages, but in reality they’re likely a response to Chile’s recent 3-0 loss to Paraguay. “When the world reminds you of your defeats, remind them of your unforgettable victories,” one message said.

“A winner is just a loser who tries more than once. What you do matters, but the reason you do it matters much more. You will realise that what today seems like a sacrifice, will end up being the greatest achievement of your life.”

Alexis injured his ankle while on international duty and has even been accused by some in Chile for being overweight. There were also questions about his mental state after his proposed move to Manchester City collapsed.

The 28-year-old played against Paraguay later that day and was nowhere near as invested as usual. We don’t need a set of so-called cryptic social media message to work out what he’s thinking.

Alexis will return to Arsenal once the international break is over, though whether he’ll be ready in time to play against Bournemouth on Saturday is another matter. The games against Liverpool and Paraguay are the only minutes he’s had since returning from the Confederations Cup in the summer.

It’ll take some time before he’s fully fit again.
