Arsenal have fresh competition in their pursuit for Juventus midfielder Mario Lemina, with West Ham reportedly keen on the 23-year-old.

According to Gazetto dello Sport via Football.London, West Ham want to bolster their midfield with Lemina and are keen to get the deal done as soon as possible. Arsenal, however, haven’t made any progress from initial interest earlier in the summer so it’s unknown how much a priority they see Lemina as.

Nice’s Jean-Michael Seri has been their top target in recent weeks. That will be good news for West Ham. The likes of Watford, Stoke City Arsenal and Everton are also believed to be keeping tabs on him ahead of the new season.

Arsenal do have a need for the Gabon international, given they’ll start the new campaign without a fully fit Jack Wilshere and Santi Cazorla. Mohamed Elneny had a £10m deal accepted for him before he rejected a move, while Francis Coquelin is no longer commanding a starting place.

As a result, the Gunners could do worse than the Juventus man who last season made only eight starts in the Serie A. The lack of playing time is believed to see Lemina keen to leave Turin, but until an official offer is put his way, he will remain with the Old Lady.
