Ex-Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby became visibly emotional after receiving praise from his old supporters.

Though it’s been a few years since Diaby left Arsenal, the Arsenal supporters still have a lot of fondness for one of the most unfortunate players around. Fans still remember how talented Diaby was, and said some kind words when asked by French TV station SFR Sport, reports Planet Football. Diaby was visibly emotional when he saw the video.

Ever since Sunderland’s Dan Smith broke Diaby’s ankle a decade ago, the midfielder has never been able to go a season without picking up a serious injury. When he was fit, he was a wonderful player, but sadly he was reduced to brief cameos. Diaby’s long struggle at Arsenal came to an end in 2015, when he joined Marseille on a free transfer.

However, even there, his injury troubles continued and he only played five times in two seasons. He is currently without a club. Over the years, Diaby has refused to give up on playing professional football. Now 31, he’ll be hoping that someone is willing to give him a chance.

We all hope Diaby can find a new club and end his career on the pitch rather than the treatment table.
