Andy Townsend believes Manchester City’s bids for Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez are a lot for someone who doesn’t want to stay at the club.

Townsend told Sky Sports that City are paying a lot of money considering Alexis’ situation at Arsenal. He said: “Sanchez has got a value of £60m, £70m with a year left on his contract.

“If the weekend was anything to go by, he’s had enough. And that money is a lot to take for someone who doesn’t want to be there.

Manchester City appear desperate to get Alexis Sanchez over the line. The Chilean international is keen for the deal to go through too. Arsenal have accepted a £60m from the Sky Blues. As a result, the deal should be finalised later today. But Arsenal may have done well in the negotiating process.

This summer, the Gunners have been criticised for losing so much value from their players, but to sell Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain for £40m to Liverpool, considering the midfielder only has a year left on his deal, is good business. And now Arsenal appear to be making £60m for another player whose deal is up next summer.

The transfer window closes at 11pm tonight, so whether Alexis is staying or going, by then we should have our answer.
