The Mirror have rated the Premier League’s new signings on their individual performances this weekend and the outlet was pretty impressed by Arsenal’s new boys.
The Mirror rated both Alexandre Lacazette, who scored his first competitive goal for Arsenal within two minutes of stepping out on the pitch against Leicester, and Sead Kolasinac as ‘hits’ after their Premiership debuts.
They described Lacazette as looking ‘sharp and alert’, which he did.
His work rate, even after scoring, was phenomenal.
Considering it was his first appearance in the English league, after he’d found the back of the net, he probably would have been excused for putting the handbrake on. At this stage, while he does have expectations on his shoulders, it’s the first game so unless he scored a handful of own goals and broke Mesut Ozil’s leg, most people wouldn’t have given him a hard time.
But he didn’t. He kept going and that attitude is fantastic to see.
Likewise, the Mirror described Kolasinac, who Arsenal signed on a free from Schalke in June, as ‘powerful’ and praised his work against Riyad Mahrez, despite the winger helping Jamie Vardy score.
Players who didn’t rate as highly were Chelsea’s new defender, Antonio Rudiger, who the Blues signed from Roma for £29m.
Antonio Conte’s side lost 3-2 at Stamford Bridge against Burnley in what the Mirror are describing as a ‘day to forget’ for Rudiger and most likely the manager seeing as the Blues would have been one of the favourites to clinch the title again according to betting sites like Biggest Free Bets.
They were also ‘on the fence’ about Kurl Zouma’s loan debut at Stoke, and disappointed in Chelsea’s Andreas Christiansen while the jury’s out on Charly Musonda.
