Swansea City are reportedly interested in signing Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson this summer.

Arsenal have been trying to sell Carl Jenkinson for what feels like years, but have struggled to find a club willing to pay the player’s wages. According to the Mirror, however, Swansea could be interested in signing Jenkinson.

The report claims that while Arsenal would prefer to sell, they could be open to doing a loan deal. The Gunners have found selling their unwanted players to be tough going this summer, as their high wage demands have put off potential buyers.

Jenkinson almost left the club last January, but a move to Crystal Palace broke down at the last minute for mysterious reasons. Jenkinson has since insisted it wasn’t down to money, something then-Palace manager hinted was to the contary.

Since then, the right-back has been sitting on his contract in the reserves and looks no closer to leaving the club than before. Arsenal are keen to sell players to free up space for more new signings, and will hope that somebody eventually takes Jenkinson off their hands.

Mathieu Debuchy, Kieran Gibbs and Lucas Perez are also allowed to leave, while the Mirror claims the Londoners are open to offers for Calum Chambers and Jack Wilshere as well.
