Liverpool keeper Simon Mignolet will not be a part of Liverpool’s squad later today.

The Belgian keeper had been reinstated as Liverpool’s first choice but will be absent for the visit of Arsenal later today.

Mignolet has started the season well, so his omission comes as a bit of a surprise.

It could turn out to be good news as it’ll now mean that Loris Karius will be in goal.

Karius arrived at Liverpool last summer to replace Mignolet, but turned out to be very error prone and was eventually dropped.

Another shaky performance from the German could be just what Arsenal need to gain an advantage in what will be a very difficult fixture.

Liverpool are in decent form going into the game, having blown away Hoffenheim in mid-week to qualify for the Champions League group stages.

Arsenal, meanwhile, come into the game off the back of that defeat at Stoke and with a number of defensive issues.

Liverpool’s potent attack and Arsenal shaky defence isn’t a good mix. However, with Karius backing up Liverpool own dodgy backline, Arsenal should be able to keep themselves in the game.
