Arsenal legend David Seaman believes signing Monaco’s Thomas Lemar would be “great” for the Gunners this summer.

Seaman also hopes Arsenal can bring in more talent before the deadline.

The former England goalkeeper spoke to the Express and gave his backing to the signing of Thomas Lemar, while adding that he’d like to see “one or two” more players come to the Emirates Stadium.

“I’ve no idea who is coming in. There’s so much speculation it’s so hard to keep up with it. But if they can add players like (Thomas Lemar), great. Hopefully they will do more business. Hopefully they can get one or two because it’ll be a boost for the squad as well,” Seaman said.

Arsenal have been trying and failing to sign Lemar from Monaco this summer, with the Ligue 1 side refusing to lower their asking price as a result of having lost so many key players from the squad after winning the title and reaching the Champions League semi-finals for the campaign before.

The 21-year-old was a standout star for Monaco in 2016/17, scoring and creating 19 goals in 28 Ligue 1 starts, contributing six goals in nine Champions League games last season too. Lemar has also grabbed one assist from his first two appearances in 2017/18.

Arsenal reportedly had bids of around £30m and £40m rejected, with Monaco believed to want twice the price before letting Lemar leave the Stade Louis II. So the saga looks set to continue this summer.
