Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez, and manager Zinedine Zidane are reportedly split over whether the La Liga club should move for Alexis Sanchez.
Real are the latest European club to be linked with a move for Alexis, who now has less than 12 months on his Arsenal contract and is looking increasingly likely to leave.
However, while Zidane is allegedly a big fan of the Chilean and believes he would bring something to the team, especially as they’re yet to place Alvaro Morata, Spanish outlet Don Balon claims that Perez isn’t on board.
Perez is supposedly still keen on Monaco striker, 18-year-old Kylian Mbappe, and believes that Alexis would cost too much if Real were to sign him this summer. While this means that the 28-year-old would be available on a free next year, the Los Blancos president apparently reckons that the forward is already at his peak and therefore not worth it.
Ouch.
Manchester City were previously linked with a move for Alexis, who scored 30 goals over all competitions last season, but Arsenal appear to be standing firm in their choice not to sell to a rival.
Paris Saint-Germain were also said to be eager to sign the Chile international earlier this summer but considering they’ve just forked out £198m for Neymar, it doesn’t look as if they’ll be dipping back into the transfer market any time soon.
Alexis is apparently suffering from an abdominal injury at the moment and therefore is set to miss out on the Gunners’ opening 2017/18 Premier League matches.
