Arsenal are now reportedly the only club in the frame to sign Nice midfielder, Jean Michael Seri.

Now that Barcelona have allegedly withdrawn their interest in Seri, Arsenal are the only club that’s supposedly interested in signing him, claims Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo.

The midfielder, who some tipped to replace Santi Cazorla in north London, was heavily linked with a move to the Catalan giants recently. However, they are now said to be looking at alternative options.

Seri was initially supposed to be signed instead of their top transfer target, PSG’s Marco Verratti, which wasn’t feasible in the end.

Seri’s release clause is said to be around £36.5m (€40m) so perhaps Barcelona were unwilling to meet that. Although they would most likely have had to pay considerably more if they had been successful in their pursuit of Verratti.

While Roma were previously linked with Seri, it appears that Arsenal are now the only club interested in signing the 26-year-old, as according to the Sun, they might buy him instead of Monaco winger, Thomas Lemar.

The Ivorian has two years left on his deal with Nice.

Last season, he made 39 appearances for the Ligue 1 side, scoring seven goals and assisting nine.

He’s also been capped 13 times for the Ivory Coast.
