Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane wants Alexis Sanchez this summer, but club president Florentino Perez isn’t believed to be as keen.
Zidane wants a player that can add drive and aggression to his starting eleven and has identified Alexis Sanchez as that very player. That’s according to Don Balon via Tribal Football, who claim Real head coach wants Alexis in the event they can’t sign Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe.
However, club president Florentino Perez is reportedly against the signing. He feels that Alexis is too old at 28, and wants Real Madrid to focus on young players instead. Don Balon believe that if Madrid can’t get Mbappe, Perez would prefer Borussia Dortmund’s Ousmane Dembele instead.
It should be noted that Alexis has not been linked with Real Madrid at all this summer, from my best recollection. The fact the Spaniards have a pretty stacked forward line might have something to do with that. Knowing how Spanish clubs like to operate, I’d think there would have been a whole media campaign to lure Alexis over to Madrid if they were really interested.
For that matter, Los Blancos are usually very decisive when it comes to transfers and surely wouldn’t have left attempting to sign the Arsenal man so late in the window, you’d feel. Chelsea’s Eden Hazard is believed to be their long-term transfer target and an eventual replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, rather than Alexis.
