The new Premier League season kicks off in just a couple hours time, with Arsenal playing Leicester at the Emirates Stadium.

It’s the first match of a new season in which plenty of money has been spent and nobody can quite predict who will finish where.

Bookmakers.co.uk have created a convenient preview of the new season.

It shows the most expensive signing made by each club, the value of their squads and the odds on who will win the Premier League and who will go down.

Using odds from SkyBet, Arsenal will finish outside of the top four again, with Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham favourites to finish above them. This is in line with most pundits’ predictions so far. It seems most are convinced that this will be the year of the Manchester clubs.

Curiously, Alvaro Morata and Gabriel Jesus have been given better odds of finishing top goalscorer than Alexandre Lacazette, despite Lacazette scoring more than both of those players combined last season.

Arsenal apparently have the third most valuable squad in the league. While not an accurate measure of success, it does demonstrate that there is a clear “top six” in the division.

The final order of that top six is anyone’s guess. There’s no clear and obvious best team of the lot. Except Arsenal.

They’re clearly and obviously the worst team, if you believe people’s predictions…
