Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly dropped their interest in Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez this summer.
Depending on how you look at things, either Arsenal or Manchester City have been boosted by PSG dropping their interest in Alexis Sanchez.
According to the Telegraph, the Ligue 1 giants have categorically denied reports from Chile that they’re prepared to bid more than £80m to sign Alexis and will not be pursuing a deal after completing the signing of Neymar.
That would mean one less club interested in Alexis, but there’s still the issue of Manchester City. The report states that City are still interested in Alexis, though they aren’t as confident of doing a deal this summer anymore.
PSG dropping their interest might give them hope that they could be the only place Alexis wants to be this season. However, nothing has changed for Arsene Wenger, who is even more determined to keep Alexis after past failures to hold onto key players.
The Telegraph claim that Alexis is now prepared to wait out the final year of his contract before moving to another club, most likely City. There could well be more twists to come, especially after Wenger revealed Alexis had an abdominal strain and would be out for two weeks.
I feel the timing and length of the injury is a little too suspicious and could well ensure he remains an Arsenal player at least until the winter transfer window opens.
