Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is reportedly going to reject Arsenal’s insane offer of £180k-per-week and Chelsea are growing increasingly confident that they could land the 24-year-old this summer.

Arsenal have allegedly offered the Ox £180k-per-week – a massive leap in wages since he apparently ‘only’ earns £65k-per-week at the moment. It would put him just behind the club’s new record signing, Alexandre Lacazette, who reportedly earns £200kpw.

It’s an insane amount. Although what’s even more insane is the rumour that the England international has turned this down.

According to the Telegraph, this means that Chelsea are growing increasingly confident that they’ll land the 24-year-old this summer as the Gunners don’t want to lose him for free when his contract runs out next year.

Antonio Conte is said to be really pushing to sign the midfielder as not only is he versatile but has the home-grown factor.

The Telegraph claim that the Blues have made a bid of £35m for the Ox, having already had an offer of £25m rejected.

The Daily Mail are also still linking Liverpool, who have been rumoured to be after him all summer.

Considering the Ox has spent the best part of his six years in north London sidelined through injury, it would be incredibly disappointing if he has indeed turned down such a huge amount of wages in search for an even better deal.

He’s scored just 20 goals in 197 appearances across all competitions since signing from Southampton at the age of 17 and has only really hit his stride in the last six months.

While I understand that he’s been moved from pillar to post in terms of his position, Arsene Wenger’s done this because he believes in the Ox’s ability to adapt.

Speaking in his pre-Liverpool press conference, the boss insisted that he wants the player to stay.

“I want him to stay and be one of the big players of the future of this club,” he said. “He is one of the players this team has to be built around. I want him to commit to the club and to be one of the carrier of the values of our team.

“I think we invested a lot of time, confidence and money on players like Alex, who we bought at a young age. For me, they have a responsibility for the future of this club because Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will be one of the big English players in the coming years. I personally am highly determined to keep him here.”
