Monaco striker Kylian Mbappé reportedly confided in Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger over his future earlier this summer.

Mbappé has been targeted by multiple top clubs over the summer after a very strong season in 2016/17 and is believed to have chosen Paris Saint-Germain as his next home. And according to Football.London, Arsène Wenger spoke to the player about his future early on in the window.

At the time, there were plenty of rumours that Arsenal were preparing a bid for Mbappé, depending on who you believed. Wenger, however, remained coy when asked about the matter. Arsenal were priced out of an agreement to bring the player to North London but that didn’t stop Wenger speaking with Mbappe about the next steps in his career.

Monaco won the Ligue 1 title last season and reached the Champions League semi-final. But Paris Saint-Germain are big favourites to replicate Monaco’s success given the latter have lost their key players and may yet lose Mbappe too. PSG signed Barcelona forward Neymar for £200m in the summer and are looking to add the teeneager to the ranks.

Arsenal aren’t bemoaning the loss of Mbappe given they signed former Lyon forward Alexandre Lacazette this summer, however.
