Marseille are reportedly considering bringing Arsenal right-back Mathieu Debuchy back to Ligue 1 this summer.

According to France Football the French giants are looking to bolster their defence and have long been linked with the 32-year-old this summer. Arsenal are keen to sell and aren’t likely to be haggling over the asking price, I feel.

Debuchy hasn’t been involved with the Arsenal first-team for a while. Despite seeming to recover from his injury problems and playing a number of games for the U23, the former Newcastle United man isn’t in the reckoning.

However, now Debuchy isn’t even featuring for the reserve side, having missed Monday’s 3-2 win over Derby. The French international was left out of the squad for the pre-season tour and isn’t expected to play under Arsene Wenger agai, playing just 13 league games after signing in 2014.

The right-back has been close to a move away from the Emirates, with the likes of Bordeaux and Nice come close to procuring his signature, but wage demands are believed to have caused the deal to break down.

Debuchy spent a short time out on loan with Bordeaux but couldn’t agree personal terms. Marseille have a lot of money this summer so they shouldn’t struggling meeting the player’s demands.
