Real Madrid legends have hailed reported Arsenal target Marco Asensio, tipping the midfielder for a bright future.
According to Football London, there are reports in Spain claiming that Arsenal could be trying to sign him. Ignoring how unlikely the story is, Asensio is incredibly highly rated. Several Madrid legends have bigged him up.
“Asensio has become a big player and can become a Golden Ball winner,” Real chairman Florentino Perez said.
Ex-midfielder Guti added: “Asensio is a lot better player than I was. He has an unlimited ceiling, his head is very well furnished and will depend on what he wants to do in the world of football. The future is in his feet.”
And one of their biggest legends, Raul, said: “He has much to offer now and a great future ahead of him. He’s a young guy, eager to work and he’s currently doing very well.”
The story goes that Asensio feels he’s ready to be a consistent starter for Los Blancos and is set to have ’emergency talks’ with manager Zinedine Zidane to convince him to make that happen.
Competition in the team is strong, and someone like Gareth Bale would have to be dropped for Asensio to play. Should he not receive the assurances he wants, the 21-year-old could ask to leave. And that’s where Arsenal come in.
Reports claim the Gunners are willing to pay his £72m release clause. Asensio has the world at his feet at the Santiago Bernabeu. You’d have to question if he’d be willing to give that away to join Arsenal.
Everyone is talking about the Real midfielder now. He’s stealing the headlines, scoring in a Champions League final and Spanish Super Cup, banging in wonder goals against Barcelona. When it comes to young talent in Europe, there are few players as exciting as he is.
