Lucas Perez’s agent has reportedly held a meeting with Arsene Wenger and Dick Law over a return to Deportivo.

Lucas’s agent, Rodrigo Fernandez Lovelle, has allegedly held a meeting with Wenger and Law over a return to the forward’s former club, Deportivo, this summer.

Arsenal signed the 28-year-old from the La Liga side a year ago for £17m. However, it’s apparently looking more likely that Lucas will return on loan with an option to buy, claims Goal’s Chris Wheatley.

Lovelle recently complained that the Gunners were demanding too much for the Spaniard after Deportivo had a €12m offer – just under £11m – rebuffed. Arsenal are said to be asking for €15m (£13.6m)… a whole €3m more. Those tyrants…

While Newcastle were briefly linked with a move for Lucas and Rafa Benitez was open about his interest, Deportivo always looked as if they would get their man back. Which does beg the question of why they sold him in the first place… although looking at the profit they could make, maybe it doesn’t.

After being sidelined for 16 games through injury last season, Lucas was unhappy with his lack of playing time and progress in north London and decided to try his luck elsewhere ahead of the World Cup next year.

Despite making it known that he wanted to leave, his agent then kicked up a fuss when Arsenal gave new £52m signing Alexandre Lacazette the #9 shirt Lucas clearly wouldn’t be using.

This transfer ‘saga’ has rattled on for way too long now. Hopefully it draws to a conclusion soon.
