Arsenal have told Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain they no longer want him at the club, opening the door to Liverpool to procure his signature.

After spending the whole summer trying to convince him to stay, it seems Arsenal have performed an abrupt u-turn. According to The Times, Arsenal have now informed the Ox that he’s no longer wanted by the club.

They are reportedly so unhappy with his lack of commitment to the club that they’re prepared to cut ties entirely. It’s turning into a messy situation for the Gunners, with a number of strange decisions from all sides.

Oxlade-Chamberlain informed the club that he wanted to leave before the Liverpool game, yet was picked to start anyway. He couldn’t look any more disinterested in that game, and in the following days a fee was agreed with Chelsea and a transfer looked set to happen.

However, it was reported this morning that the 24-year-old didn’t want to move to Chelsea because he feared he would play as a wing-back there. The Ox wants to play as a central midfielder instead. Hence, he only wants a move to Liverpool.

The whole situation is now dependent on Liverpool agreeing a fee with Arsenal. Otherwise, both Arsenal and Oxlade-Chamberlain could be left in a very awkward position.
