Young midfielder Kelechi Nwakali will go on loan to Dutch side VVV-Venlo, according to a report.
The Nigerian midfielder spent last season on loan at second division Dutch side MVV Maastricht, and now appears to be on the verge of making the step-up to the Eredivisie.
According to Score Nigeria, Nwakali will join VVV-Venlo on loan for the season.
Up to six different clubs reportedly wanted Nwakali on loan, including Swiss champions Basel, but it appears that Arsenal have decided that VVV-Venlo is the best place for him.
Nwakali is currently unable to play for Arsenal due to not qualifying for a work permit. He’ll likely spend several years on loan before finally qualifying for one or simply leaving without ever playing for the club.
Playing top flight football should see him take a few steps closer to the Nigeria national team, where he can then earn the required number of caps to get a work permit.
Nwakali could come up against former Arsenal youngster Dan Crowley, who now plays for Willem II, in the Eredivisie.
