Juventus are reportedly interested in signing Arsenal and Germany centre-back Shkodran Mustafi this summer.

The strange rumours linking Mustafi away from the club continue.

Yesterday, there were reports of Arsenal being open to selling Mustafi to Inter Milan due to him ‘failing to bond’ with his teammates. Now, there are reports from Tuttosport via the Express that Juventus want to sign him.

The report says that the Serie A defending champions have identified the centre-back as a replacement for Leonardo Bonucci, whom they lost to AC Milan earlier in the summer. Arsenal could be willing to let Mustafi go but only if they can find a replacement first, say the rumours.

The 25-year-old arrived at the Emirates Stadium only last summer and was a first-team regular throughout the season. Although his form was up and down, it’d be very strange for Arsenal to let him go after just one campaign. It’d be even stranger to let him at this point in the transfer window.

Arsenal have already sold Gabriel to Valencia this summer and currently have five centre-backs at the club. With concerns over the fitness of Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker, the sudden dropping of Rob Holding due to confidence issues and Calum Chambers being completely forgotten, Mustafi is the only normal centre back at the club.

It’s difficult to foresee a situation where he could be sold.
