Arsenal midfielder Jon Toral is close to joining to Hull City on a season-long loan, according to latest reports.

The 22-year-old has spent most of his Arsenal career on loan and could soon be on the move again. According to ESPN, Championship side Hull City have secured the midfielder on a season-long loan, beating out the likes of Derby County.

Toral has yet to make a senior competitive appearance for Arsenal since joining from Barcelona in 2012. A serious injury set him back early on, and since then he’s had to make do with loan moves.

Impressive spells at Brentford and Birmingham earned him a move to Granada in La Liga, but his game time in Spain was limited. He spent the second half of last season on loan with Scottish Premiership side Rangers.

Toral is a proven player in the Championship and won both the Player of the Year and the Goal of the Season awards at Birmingham. He could now play in a team that’s expected to bounce straight back up to the Premier League.

His first-team prospects at Arsenal aren’t great, with no official promotion to the first-team despite his good form out on loan. It’s likely this move will be about putting him in the shop window as well as giving him first team experience, I feel.
