Arsenal midfielder Jon Toral has joined Championship side Hull City on a permanent deal.

Arsenal have confirmed that 22-year-old Spanish midfielder Jon Toral has joined Hull City on a permanent deal. On Tuesday, we reported that Toral was undergoing a medical at Hull ahead of what was initially thought to be a loan deal.

However, the player has now signed a permanent deal with Hull.

Toral had spent several seasons on loan since joining Arsenal from Barcelona in 2012. Impressive spells with Brentford and Birmingham – where he won their Player of the Year aware – had cemented his reputation as a consistent performer at Championship level.

He will now be helping Hull bounce straight back to the Premier League. Toral failed to make a single first-team appearance for Arsenal despite his good form on loan.

A combination of too much competition and serious injuries early on in his Arsenal career may have scuppered any chance he had of breaking through. Arsenal have thanked for the player for his contributions to the club and wish him well for the future.
