Jack Wilshere and Rob Holding are allegedly both set to feature against Manchester City tonight.

Arsenal’s u23s face City at the Emirates tonight (Monday) at 7pm UK time and both Wilshere and Holding are set to take part, according to youth expert, Jeorge Bird.

Wilshere was involved in the Young Gun’s 3-2 Premier League 2 win over Derby County last week and is therefore most likely still chasing match fitness ahead of a decision over his future. The 25-year-old midfielder has been heavily linked with a move away from north London given that he has less than 12 months on his existing deal.

Holding, on the hand, has been playing for the first team regularly but after shipping three against Leicester during Arsenal’s Premier League match of the season. Arsene Wenger claims that the 21-year-old has lost his confidence as a result and, since he was left out of the senior squad against Stoke on Saturday, it stands to reason that the boss would push to get him an appearance for the u23s in order to keep him match-fit.

“We conceded three last week so I changed a bit because Mustafi came back and Holding had lost a little bit of confidence,” Wenger said after losing 1-0 away to Stoke.

Although Wilshere’s future at Arsenal is uncertain, Holding is set to be in north London for the foreseeable future and is already a firm favourite among Gooners. Hopefully he won’t allow his one bad performances against the Foxes have a knock-on affect.
