Inter Milan defender Jeison Murillo could be on his way to Valencia and not Arsenal or Tottenham, according to latest reports.

The Colombian international had attracted the interest of a number of clubs this summer, mainly from the Premier League, with West Ham United and Everton linked with signature.

But it appears Valencia may have won the race, having been targeting three defenders to bolster their backline ahead of the new season, reports Gazzetta dello Sport via talkSPORT.

Arsenal’s Gabriel Paulista and Sevilla’s Ivan Mercado were two players believed to be on the Spanish side’s shortlist this summer along with Murillo. Something the Valencia president recently admitted.

The Sun reported that Arsenal were willing to sell Gabriel for £10m but it appears they may overlooked the Brazilian to sign a player the Gunners were looking at themselves.

Murillo made 27 Serie A appearances for Inter Milan last season. The 25-year-old joined the Italian outfit from Granada in 2015 for around £6m. He’s made 25 appearances for Colombia, scoring one goal.

And with three years left on his contract at Inter, the Nerazurri can ask for a large transfer fee. The likes of Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Everton and West Ham United may now have to turn their attentions elsewhere for a centre-back.
