Inter Milan have reportedly offered Arsenal an initial loan fee of £4.6m for Shkodran Mustafi, with an option to sign him for £23m at the end of the season.

Inter were initially said to be keen on buying Mustafi. However, as Transfer Deadline Day draws closer, it’s emerged that the Serie A club will probably only be taking him on loan for a fee of £4.6m. And if they want to buy him at the end of the season, they can do so for £23m.

According to Sky Sports, Arsenal want to keep the centre-back and the 25-year-old is still very much part of Arsene Wenger’s plans for this season.

Mustafi’s potential move away from Arsenal has shocked most since the rumour appeared from nowhere.

The Germany international allegedly hasn’t bonded with the rest of the Arsenal squad, which is why he’s said to be looking to move. However, it all seems a bit sudden, suggesting that something’s happened recently.

Mustafi is a first team regular and one of the only out-and-out centre-backs left at the club, so allowing him to leave and not replacing him would be bizarre.

If Arsenal do sell him, they’re apparently hoping to recoup the £35m they gave Valencia to sign him last year.
