Ian Wright believes that Arsene Wenger should leave Arsenal for his own sanity.

Like most Gooners, Wrighty is concerned with the state Arsenal are in. Not just right now but for the last 10 years. And he reckons that Wenger needs to quit now to save his own sanity, since the blame will continue to land at his door if he stays.

“Do I think he should go? I’d like him to go because I do not believe now he can motivate the players. It’s for himself and for his own sanity,” the ex-striker told BBC Radio5 Live.

“It’s an absolute nightmare – where does he go from here? That team has not played for Wenger for years.”

Arsenal have only won three out of a possible nine points in the Premier League so far this season after narrowly beating Leicester 4-3 on the opening day of the season.

Since them, the Gunners have lost away to Stoke and were thumped at Anfield.

Combine this with the rumour that Liverpool believe they can sign Thomas Lemar from Monaco when Wenger, who has been chasing the 21-year-old winger all summer, claimed the Ligue 1 side wouldn’t sell.

Then mix this in with reports that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is set to complete a £40m move to Chelsea; Shkodran Mustafi could be off to Inter on loan, and Manchester City are expected to make a formal approach for Alexis Sanchez.

It’s all looking like a bit of a mess and I do wonder how the boss is holding up considering he’s got no director of football to lighten the load.
