Ian Wright reckons that Chelsea’s interest in Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain proves that Arsenal have good enough players, it’s just getting them to perform.

Wrighty believes that having Chelsea, the title holders, willing to pay £40m for the Ox during the final year of the 24-year-old’s contract proves that Arsenal do have good enough players, they’re just not performing.

“The first thing I hear is that the Ox might be on his way to Chelsea. That’s disappointing news,” the former striker told BBC Radio5 Live [via Evening Standard].

“Chelsea want him – Chelsea, the champions will take him. That says we obviously have players that are good enough.”

He added, “If Sanchez and Ozil are free, they will be snapped up.

“Why can’t we get these players to play for us? Why don’t they want to play for us?”

It’s unclear where the Ox will play for Chelsea when he no doubt completes his £40m move in the coming days. He’s been open about his desire to play in the middle but the chances are Antonio Conte is signing him because he wants to play him as a wing-back.

Therefore, he’d most likely be fighting Victor Moses, who was superb in his new position last season, for a spot in the starting XI and could just be a squad player.

Still, no one disputes that Arsenal have good players on paper. Mesut Ozil, Aaron Ramsey, Alexis Sanchez, Hector Bellerin, Petr Cech. All respected names in world football… at least at one stage. However, now, none of them want to play for the shirt and certainly not the manager.

It’s their lack of desire that’s causing people to question what on earth is going on at the club.
