Thierry Henry has chosen his favourite goal in an Arsenal shirt.

Arsenal’s record goalscorer scored just the 228 goals for the club and, just as the fans do, would have a hard time picking out a favourite.

However, it was his goal against Liverpool in 2004 – where he dribbled past two Liverpool defenders and calmly stroked the ball in to put us 3-2 up – that he enjoyed the most.

“There was one goal that was more than a goal. Not in terms of the game or the beauty of the goal or whatever that people usually talk about,” Henry said, reports ESPN.

“It’s the goal I scored against Liverpool when I scored the third one to make it 3-2. It’s the only time in my life that I felt a stadium breathing again.”

“At the time, I remember scoring it and I felt it. And we were talking about it in the dressing room. And whenever I see that goal I can still feel what happened that day in the stadium.”

Henry’s hat-trick that day was hugely significant in Arsenal’s season. Having been eliminated from the FA Cup by Manchester United and the Champions League by Chelsea in the same week, the Gunners’ season was on the brink of collapse.

People started fearing the worst when Liverpool went 2-1 ahead and Arsenal were far from their best. Henry, as he did several times during his Arsenal career, made the difference and scored two more goals to give Arsenal a 4-2 win.

They went on to finish the season unbeaten. The game was seen as a huge turning point, and gave Arsenal the impetus to go and make history.
