Arsenal defender Kieran Gibbs is closing in on a move to Galatasaray, according to reports in Turkey.

The England left-back has been repeatedly linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium this summer, and according to Turkish outlet Fanatik, he might finally be about to depart.

The report claims that Galatasaray are willing to pay £3.7m for the defender and are meeting with Erkan Söğüt, agent of club teammate Mesut Özil, and Gibbs’ father to try and agree a deal this week. Söğüt is reportedly acting as an intermediary between the two parties.

So far, Gibbs hasn’t played any part in the Arsenal senior team, either in pre-season or after the competitive matches got underway. He was first seriously linked with a move away from the Gunners after he was excluded from the pre-season tour, and it was thought at the time that he might be staying behind to try and find a suitor.

However, months later there has still been no conclusion to the transfer saga. Gibbs did play 45 minutes for the u23s against Derby in the first Premier League 2 match of the season, but now even those minutes seem to have dried up, as he wasn’t involved at all against Manchester City.

Perhaps then, the rumours are true and the left-back, who made 22 appearances for the Gunners last season, is close to signing for a new club. But for now nothing is confirmed.
