Everton want Gylfi Sigurdsson and Olivier Giroud in a double deal worth £75m.

Everton have already spent close to £100m on new players this summer and are looking to spend even more to bring Olivier Giroud and Swansea’s Gylfi Sigurdsson to Merseyside.

According to the Daily Star, the Toffees are hopeful that £25m would be enough to sign Giroud from Arsenal. That means they want to spend £50m on Sigurdsson. That’s £50m for a free-kick specialist.

You know the transfer window is bizarre when a striker with 69 Premier League in 164 games and 27 goals for France is apparently worth half of Gylfi Sigurdsson. You’d have to question Arsenal’s ability to sell players if they don’t try and fleece clubs for more money for their better players.

That aside, the rumours of Giroud leaving Arsenal have quietened after it became clear that the Frenchman would be willing to compete for a starting place. Many thought that Alexandre Lacazette’s arrival would force the former Montpellier out of the club, especially after a season where he only made 11 Premier League starts.

Giroud, though, has a role to play in the Arsenal squad and has always been willing to fight for his place. I like to think that it’d take a much bigger bid than £25m to convince Arsenal to sell him.
