According to reports, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is demanding £120k-per-week to stay at Arsenal but does he actually deserve it?

The Daily Star reported this week that the Ox is demanding a £120k-per-week to stay at Arsenal.

This is £20k-per-week more than Arsenal allegedly offered him earlier in the summer and just under what Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil currently get.

While Ozil, who’s expected to sign a new deal, is due to get a significant pay rise, as would Alexis is he chose to stay, the Ox would still be getting paid more than Olivier Giroud, Theo Walcott, Petr Cech and Aaron Ramsey, and almost double what he’s reportedly getting now.

He apparently wants this, despite spending a whopping 154 games sidelined.

He’s suffered 11 injuries in six years at Arsenal since Arsene Wenger took a chance on him by splashing out £12m (not including add-ons) on him while he was just a promising teenager at Southampton.

So, does he deserve it?

While the Ox was strong towards the end of last season, possibly as a result of increased playing time, and has been pretty decent so far in pre-season this term, he still doesn’t really score or assist.

During his entire 196 appearances for Arsenal, he’s only scored 20 goals and assisted 32, which for a player demanding more than Theo, who’s not only five years older than him but scores more consistently, is terrible.

The Ox has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool, so let’s see if they’ll meet his alleged wage demands.

Daniel Sturridge and James Milner are reportedly both on £120k-per-week so I guess anything’s possible. However, despite injuries, Sturridge is a player who’s still capable of scoring 10+ goals a season when fit. He’s also four years older than the Ox.

Therefore, to put it simply, no, I don’t believe the Ox deserves £120k-per-week.
